On the 2nd of July, 2011 the National Open University of Nigeria Special Study Centre in Enugu Prison was commissioned by the Governor of the State, Barrister Sullivan Chime. 23 students of the study centre also matriculated. 13 of them inmates

The Prisons Training College Passed out 162 cadet officers after six months of rigorous training.

Participants were drawn from four West African countries comprising of Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.
