The housing needs of men and women of the paramilitary Services in the Ministry of Interior is set to be addressed. A scheme to handle the issue has been kicked off under the Public Private Partnership arrangment. Beneficiaries would include officers and men of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, and Nigerian Fire Service.

There are no less than 84 inmates in the Nigerian Prisons Service running various academic courses even in their incarceration.

The Minsiter of Interior, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro has commended Governor Dickson of Bayelsa State for his contribuition to the advancement of Criminal Justice in his State by partnering the Nigerian Prisons Service to build a prison in Yenagoa.

History was made recently in Yenagoa as a 340 capacity prison there was commissioned by the Executive Governor of the State, Governor Seirake Dickson. The partnership between the State and the Nigerian Prisons Service culminated in the building and commissioning of the prison. 

The Controller General of Nigerian Prisons Service (CGP), Mr Zakari Ohinoyi Ibrahim, MFR, mni has played host to the new Acting Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI), Rilwanu B. Musa, mni.

There has been a minor reshuffle at the Prisons National Headquarters. This is sequel to the elevation of three Assistant Controllers General of Prisons to the rank of Deputy Controller General. The officers are Alhaji Abubakar Y. Dagaci, mni, Mr Segun A. Bewaji and Mr Ogar T. Ebuta.

The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) has released the promotion of 3 new Deputy Controllers General of Prisons (DCGP). They are Alhaji Abubakar Y. Dagaci, Mr Segun A. Bewaji and Mr Ogar T. Ebuta, all former Assistant Controllers General of Prisons (ACGPs).

The operations of the Nigerian Prisons is poised to take a turn for the better as the Controller-General of Prisons takes delivery of the Revised Edition of the Nigerian Prisons Service Operational Document, The Standing Orders, from the Federal Justice Sector Reform Coordinating Committee (FJSRCC). 

It was payback time for some young volunteers at the Prisons Staff College Kaduna as they were offered automatic employment into the Nigerian Prisons Service.

The plight of the inmates of the Nigerian Prisons Service, especially those awaiting trial is set to be aggressively addressed.

It was a dream in 2008. The Administration of Mr Olusola Adigun Ogundipe, OFR, mni did the dreaming.

Today it is no longer a dream but a reality. The Administration of Mr Zakari Ibrahim Ohinoyi, MFR, mni did the hatching.

The Prisons Microfinance Bank is now a reality as it debuts in Ibadan, Oyo State.  

Hope has been rekindled for the Prisons Bill that has been lying in the Chambers of the National Assembly now for twelve years running.

The hope was made alive by Honourable Umar Mohammed Bature, the Chairman, House Committee on Interior during his Committee's visit to the National Headquarters of the Nigerian Prisons Service.

The Federal Ministry of Interior in collaboration with Konsult Rabboni  strategises on how to revamp the Agricultutral Unit of the Nigerian Prisons Service for improved production which is aimed at not just the feeding of the Prisons inmates and Nigerians but also for exports in the long run....

After 34 years of meritorous service to his fatherland, Mr Olusola Adigun Ogundipe, OFR, mni was finally pulled out in a colourful ceremony held at the Prisons National Headquarters, Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road, Abuja on the 27th of February, 2012. 

In continuation of the Nigerian Prisons Service Staff Special Car Welfare Scheme, the second batch of the cars were recently commissioned in Lagos by no less a person than the Honourable Minister of Interior himself, Comrade Abba Moro.

Following the attack on Koton-Karfe prison, in Kogi State, the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro summoned all Assistant Controllers-General of Prisons in charge of the Zones and the Controllers in charge of State Commands to his office in Garki, Abuja and there issued them a marching order to go and perform or face severe sanctions

The Civil Defence, Immigration and Prisons Board has released the 2010 Promotional Interview results.

The results saw to the promotion of 2,527 officers to various ranks.

A consortium of Insurance Companies led by the Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc recently made good the terms of contract entered into with the Nigerian Prisons Service by refurbishing and replacing touched and destroyed vehicles belonging to the Nigerian Prisons Service.

On the 6th of July, 2011 President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan commissioned the new federal prison built by the Chief (Barr) Godswill Akpabio led Government of Akwa Ibom State.

The President was represented by the Vice President, Architect Namadi Sambo.

The Governor of Enugu State, Barrister Sullivan Chime commissioned the National Open University of Nigeria Special Study Centre in Enugu Prison recently.

23 students also matriculated on the day, 13 of them inmates of the Prison

Nigerian Prisons Service has taken the lead in the adminsitration of corrections in the West African subregion. This was made manifest as it successfully concludes the 19th ASP Basic Course International

The morale of Prisons officers were recently boosted as brand new cars were distributed to members of staff of the Nigerian Prisons Service.
